Yoga, breath and mindfulness

Yoga and conscious breathing are well-known methods for reducing stress in daily life. Mindfulness, rooted in ancient contemplative traditions, is gaining attention for its therapeutic advantages, particularly in the corporate context.

Mindfulness is a method where we train the mind to be consciously present by observing, accepting and allowing things to be the way they are, without attempting to change anything. Funny enough, this seems to often lead to many positive changes. Recent research, including a 2019 study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology, affirms the positive impact of mindfulness on mental well-being. The study demonstrates notable reductions in stress and improvements in psychological health among employees practicing mindfulness. This approach is further associated with enhanced cognitive function, and heightened resilience, making it a valuable tool in various workplace environments. It is for example commonly used in fields such as healthcare and the military.

Integrating yoga, breathing exercises, and mindfulness offers a practical and research-based strategy to promote both physical and mental health in the workplace.

Depending on what your needs look like, the practice can be adapted to suit your team and space. Is is easy to transform a conference room or a canteen to a yoga room, all that´s needed is an open surface and yoga mats. As an option, the practice can be done in chairs and work clothes. Times available are morning, lunch and after-work.

This could for example look like:

  • 45 minutes session during lunch for 10 weeks

  • 60 minutes yoga in the mornings

  • 90 minutes class and workshop after work

Did you know?

As part of the corporate health management, yoga and meditation are subsidized by 500 Euros per employee per year (§ 3 Nr. 34 EStG). The expenses are considered as a tax-free amount.

"We had the pleasure of having Andrea Bognar for a lecture at Rytmusgymnasiet in Gothenburg in the autumn of 2023. She first met with us singing teachers, and in a  very structured and inspiring manner, she explained and demonstrated mindfulness for singing and teaching.
